For more than half a century, Takamine has proudly dedicated itself to the art of fine guitar craftsmanship.

Their long standing devotion to innovation and continual improvement has placed Takamine among the world’s premier acoustic guitar makers, with truly fine instruments that are the first choice of many performing guitarists world wide.

With humble beginnings in 1959, a small family-run instrument workshop that would later become the Takamine company was founded in the town of Sakashita, at the foot of Mount Takamine in central Japan.

In 1962, the guitar enjoyed increased popularity in Japan, leading the company to re-name as Takamine, after the mountain itself. After this, Takamine went from strength to strength, employing 60 staff members by 1968. The company continued to grow, revolutionising electro-acoustic guitars in 1978 with their under-saddle Palathetic Pickup design.

Still to this day Takamine continue to impress with new releases and intuitive designs.
