After seeing his father, Henry Freedman, enjoy success with an electronics store in Sydney, Peter Freedman seized an opportunity. In the 1990's, continuous technological advancement and relatively low cost recording equipment created a market for low-cost, high quality microphones. Enter Rode.
Soon the entirely Australian designed, built and manufactured Rode NT2 began to roll off the production line and start the hugely successful Rode journey.
The 2000's saw Rode invest heavily in machinery and technology to create microphones for a range of applications. Rode's biggest success of the 2000's came from the VideoMic in 2008, which has led them to become hugely influential in the development of camera microphones and accessories.
