Epiphone Les Paul
Truly the icon of the searing guitar solo, the thick humbucker sound of the Les Paul has defined the sound of countless classic songs and records, from Hubert Sumlin’s work with Howlin’ Wolf, Clapton’s solos on the Beano album, right through to Slash and James Dean Bradfield.
The instantly recognisable single-cutaway shape, maple top and two humbucking pickups hasn’t really changed all that much since the guitar was first introduced in 1952. The first few years were spent perfecting the design, first the trapeze tailpiece was replaced, then the P-90 pickups were replaced with the humbuckers, then the sunburst finish replaced the goldtop. By 1958, the Les Paul was as we know it today.
With a vast range of models from Gibson and Epiphone, offering a range of finishes, pickups and electronics options, the right instrument is there for you to add that Les Paul sound to your searing solo!
