Edinburgh music shop Red Dog Music is the capital’s largest general music store, with over 5,000 square feet of guitars, digital pianos, synths, recording equipment, electronic drum kits, PA equipment and loads more.

Whether you’re looking to buy guitars, buy recording equipment, buy digital pianos, or buy electronic drum kits, we stock all of the big brands and loads of the small ones, have private demo rooms with mirrors for practising embarrassing guitar moves, synths wired up and ready to squeal, murals on the walls, and an extremely comfortable sofa if you get bored of all the musical equipment and just want to sit down.

If you’ve already got your gear and just need it tweaked or repaired, we also have an experienced in store guitar tech, Rod Vaughan, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Soundwave amp and equipment repairs pick up regularly. Just drop in, explain what’s wrong, and they’ll get it sorted for you at a competitive rate.

If you’ve got an event coming up, we also have an equipment hire offshoot – Edinburgh PA Hire – who hire out sound systems for all sorts of events, from house parties to weddings.

How To Find Us

We are slap bang in the middle of Edinburgh at No. 1 Grassmarket (the castle end, on the corner of Kings Stables Road).

Walking to us from Waverley Station takes about 10 minutes or, if you’re driving, there’s an NCP car park just around the corner on King’s Stables Road.

If you prefer to be driven than to drive, the number 2 bus stops nearby, and local taxis simply love driving into the centre of Edinburgh (tram works dependent…).
